Ryan was a Hilda son that we kept to show.  His first weekend out, he won a puppy class of 10 with me showing him - it was my first time in the ring as well and was I nervous.   I was "bitten by the show bug" at that point. 

We did not go to a lot of shows and pretty much stayed in our "local area".  I was just learning to show and I am sure I messed up the dog more often then not. We did manage to garner some wins in spite of my lack of handling ability.

Carol Shores, who owned Ryan's litter sister April, wanted me to send Ryan out to Washington to their specialty.  Carol offered to show him.  So we flew him out.  When he arrived, he didn't want to come out of the crate.  Thankfully he finally did and seemed fine.  Carol showed him at the specialty and went Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and Best of Breed over specials.  His other litter sister, Baffy, was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite to him.  It was a four point major.

When he came back home, we showed him at more local shows.  He started be wary of judges and even snapped at a judge (he was excused).   This snapping escalated to the point that he even snapped at our son.  At that point, we decided the best thing to do was to put him down - it was a very sad day as he was very attached to me and never tried to "go after" me.  We did not have a necropsy done to find out if there was a brain tumor or something else going on so we will never know what caused this problem.
